Huntington, NY, December 2, 2003 -- The Young Professionals Chamber of Commerce (“YPCC”), a program of The Chamber of Commerce Regional Business Partnership, hosted their First Annual Business Leadership Conference today at the Huntington Townhouse. Sixty-five high school students from Walt Whitman, Huntington, Commack, Harborfields, and Half Hollow Hills were invited to compete in categories such as Fashion Marketing, E-Commerce, Sports Management & Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Advertising & Graphics, Information Technology, Job Interviews & Life Skills, Hospitality Services and Real Estate.

“The intelligence, enthusiasm and ambition these students exhibit makes me proud to host an event that not only gives them an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge outside of standardized academic curriculum, but to also gain the visibility necessary to ensure their success,” said Linda Mitchell, Executive Director of the YPCC. “Since we started in October 2001, I have had the pleasure of helping some of the most talented students and young professionals gain the skills necessary to be successful in business.”

Representatives from prominent regional organizations were present to judge the competition, such as LI Radio Group, Astoria Federal Savings, Stony Brook University, Nixon-Peabody, Alegean, C.W.
