Long Island's
Brightest High School Students Impress at Second Annual Business Leadership
Competition
Huntington, New York, December 1, 2004 The
Young Professionals Chamber of Commerce ("YPCC"), a program of The Chamber of
Commerce Regional Business Partnership, hosted their Second Annual Business
Leadership Competition yesterday at the Huntington Townhouse. More than 180
high school students from Commack, Deer Park, Elwood, Half Hollow Hills,
Harborfields, Hempstead, Huntington, Northport and South Huntington High
Schools, and Western Suffolk BOCES were invited to participate.
The competition provided students the opportunity
to demonstrate their knowledge through presentations in the categories of
Fashion Marketing, Hospitality Services, Advertising & Graphics,
E-Commerce, Sports Management, Sports Marketing, Real Estate, Entrepreneurship,
and Job Interview Skills.
"I am proud of the tremendous success our
competition has achieved," said Linda Mitchell, Executive Director of the YPCC.
"In only one year we have been able to triple the number of students that
compete clearly demonstrating the value and impact that a program of
this type can have on the students, teachers and school districts here on Long
Island. I was proud to witness first-hand the outstanding knowledge, confidence
and composure of our future business leaders."
